Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation Ltd in association with Indian Railways - Ministry of Tourism has launched a Super Deluxe luxury train "The Deccan Odyssey". The train has been benchmarked against the best luxury trains in the world like the Blue Train of South Africa, The Orient Express of Europe and the Eastern and Oriental of South East Asia.
The Deccan Odyssey's sheer luxury is a sight to behold. Everything in the train reflects the ways of Indian Royalty. The plush interiors, an awesome cuisine and grate sites to see makes the journey memorable. This luxurious train transports its guests on a remarkable sojourn of a land shining in legions grandeur - serene beaches, magnificent forts - palaces and experiencing divine tales etched in colossal rocks. A weeklong royal journey is through some of the best places in Maharashtra namely Mumbai, Sindhudurg, Tarkarli, Goa, Kolhapur, Aurangabad, Ellora, Chandrapur (Tadoba Wildlife), Wardha (Sevagram), Ajanta and Nasik. The objective of running "The Deccan Odyssey" train is primarily to showcase the best of tourism assets of Maharashtra like pristine beauty of Konkan coast, the art, the culture, the wildlife, the heritage (including world heritage sites of Ajanta - Ellora) of Maharashtra as well as Maharashtra's local arts, crafts and cuisine.

 » Shivalik Palace -  (Kalka - Shimla) [Tourist Coach]

For an exciting and charming journey for the elite class tourist between Kalka and Shimla, the Shivalik Palace (Tourist coach) has free on board catering with an exclusive range of kitchen ware. Special features include - decorative lights, musical cordless bell, music system, variety of indoor games, magazines and books, most ultra modern amenity fittings in bathroom, artificial decorative plant, dining table with beautiful cushioned chair, folding beds etc. Shivalik Palace is meant normally for a party of 6 persons. 
The fare is Rs. 8,225 (both ways). Rs. 4,790 for UP direction Rs. 3,495 for DN direction.

 » Shivalik Queen Express

Especially meant for the honeymooners, the Shivalik Queen Express promises a beautiful journey between Kalka and Shimla. Big windows in the train provide charming views enroute.
Shivalik Queen is NOT a train but a coach attached to the Shivalik Express (Train no. 241) from Kalka.

This is an individual coach which can be hired for the entire journey. This is not available online and has to be booked through the office of DRM Ambala or station master Kalka. Speak to station master at Shimla, mobile number 09805039931 and you will have to submit a letter requesting for booking of saloon. It is not named Shivalik Queen now but is the same. The fare from Kalka to Shimla is Rs. 4970 and from Shimla to Kalka is Rs. 3495.
You will have to get the money deposited and the station master Shimla can get the saloon reserved for you.
» Matheran Hill Railway - Matheran Railway links Neral, which lies on the Mumbai- Pune route, to the beautiful hill station of Matheran. The route, which is covered in a time period of one and half hours, is full of panoramic views of the region. The tranquility experienced is worth enjoying.

» Darjeeling Hill Railway - Operating between New Jalpiaguri and Darjeeling, the Darjeeling Railway is pulled by 100 year old engine. Tourists have an opportunity to enjoy a breathtaking view of the great Himalayas for full seven and half hours.

» Niligiri Mountain Rail - This train runs between Mettupalayam and Ooty in the southern part of the country. Tourists are treated to splendid views of tunnels, bridges.
